Faculty

Dedicated to those who helped us through our formative years, we thank you for your patience and your guidance.

Mrs Patti Slosek – Languages

After OCHS, Patti taught at the Oswego Middle School. Those of us lucky enough to remember her from her first year of teaching have fond memories of “Miss Teifke”! She and her husband Mark, currently split their time between Oswego and Florida. She stays in touch with many of her former students.

Mr Bernie Klotz – Chemistry, Coaching (basketball and track)

After a several years of bringing out the best in OCHS students and athletes (especially his winning basketball teams), Bernie and his wife Susan moved to Cape Cod, where he has become a very successful realtor. Again, we in the Class of ’71 were there at the beginning to witness an incredible teacher and motivator hit his stride “right out of the blocks”!

Mr Michael Cali – Biology

Still resident in Oswego and still a friend of the Class of 71. Frequently spotted at our reunions. While teaching and after, Michael ran a successful Florist business in Oswego for many years. Started with participation of the Class of ’71 “Bio Club” (you remember if you were there!), his arrangements graced many of our family events over the years.

Sr Agnes Vera Hino – Science

Sr Agnes eventually returned to her native Hawaii and taught for 32 years at the St Francis School in Honolulu until her retirement in 2013 at the age of 90. Sr Agnes passed in 2018 after a long life of service. At left is a letter she wrote in reply to Patty Barrett Harvell in 2013.

Following his time in Oswego, Father Yennock was for many years a Pastor in Endwell, NY and St Daniel’s in Syracuse, where he annually celebrated the “Blessing of the Bikes” for thousands of bikers over the years. Fr Yennock passed away in 2023 at the age of 97. Riding hogs keeps you young!

Sr Francis Agnes

Sr Francis Agnes had a gift for the arts. It may not be widely known but her colorful mosaics decorate several buildings in the city of Syracuse including the St Joseph’s Hospital lobby.

More Faculty entries will be added as time goes on and we accumulate more info. In the meantime, all due respect to all of the teachers and administrators and support staff that made OCHS a special place.
